Here in the South, Nashville to be precise, our summers are a sticky, sultry, string of days culminating in weeks of epic humidity. It’s a toss-up as to what will wilt first—the flowers or hairstyles. It’s a challenge to pull off good hair around here when the dog days of summer hit.
It’s dramatic and true.
I can only imagine what you ladies in Texas and Louisiana are sweating through!
Here are my top three products for getting through the dog days without having a meltdown.
The Bun Maker
It’s too hot to wear my hair down every day.
I cannot do it. 
I confess. I’ve been building buns all summer, one hairpin at a time. This little mesh donut slides right over a ponytail. You will need a few hair pins to tuck in the loosey-goosey strands that wiggle out. I have the Conair Bun Maker. I like to wear it low at the base of my hair (lower than the pic) and when I’m feeling a bit spirited I pile it high atop my head.
Hair Powder
Breathing life into even the flattest head of hair, hair powder (dry shampoo) is a life saver.
I’m stuck on Bumble and Bumble Brown Hair Powder because it covers those stray grays that sneak up on me between hair colorings. It’s more costly than other brands but I’ve had the same can for at least six months. Any hair powder will help and there are certainly more affordable options out there!
Tinted Moisturizer
Around here it’s so hot makeup practically melts off your face. I laid my foundation to rest in June and replaced it with tinted moisturizer.
My very favorite is Origin’s VitaZing. It’s really light, smells nice, and has SPF.
BB creams and tinted moisturizers are all the rage, nearly every line—from affordable to expensive brands—offers an option. I bet your makeup of choice has one, too!
As summer sizzles away, we recommend drinking lots of water, indulging in popsicles, and frequenting any body of water you can find—don’t forget to wear sunscreen.
