Let’s commit to pray these things for our ministries this year:
1. For greater emphasis on prayer.
Often we do not make prayer a priority before we plan, as we plan, and as we serve. This year, may we make sure this is high on our ministry to-do list.
2. For standing firm on biblical truth.
If we do not keep the Word central to all we do in women’s ministry we have little to counter act what culture is trying to force women to believe and be. Only Scripture gives us a complete picture of what Christ wants our lives to emulate.
3. For greater unity in our churches.
How are you emphasizing what women have in common as opposed to how different they are? Truly, women are unique in their preferences, stages of life, generational make-up, and spiritual maturity, but begin looking first at the things they have in common: love for Christ, desire for relationship, seeking truth.
4. For greater intentionality in evangelism.
This is a weakness of mine personally as I have a calling to disciple women who are followers of Christ, so this is one area I will pray for personally. But we must always watch for women on a daily basis who need to know and experience Christ. We must invest in disciples in a way that encourages and equips them to share their stories of faith with the non-believing world.
5. For greater emphasis on groups.
Bible study groups are where we truly do life together. Where we get to know each other on a deeper level. And where we hold each other accountable for what God wants to teach us.
6. For membership to be more meaningful.
Often we make it easy to be a part of a church or ministry, not challenging women to truly commit to a life of serving Christ. Let’s biblically show women what it means to belong to Christ and to sacrifice our lives for Him.
7. For clear plans of discipleship.
What are next steps in the lives of women, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey? Make it clear what the next steps are and encourage women to take those steps.
8. For more ministry involvement and impact in our communities.
So many women today are tired of just caring for their own. They want to change their world, starting with their own community. Offer various options for reaching out to those around them outside the church walls, so women can find a place to make a difference in the kingdom.
Will you commit to pray for these things for your ministry? And will you challenge not only your leadership team, but also all of the women in your ministry to pray as well? Imagine the differences in our churches and communities as God answers our sincere prayers for these eight things. What would you add?
