The Chat with Priscilla is now available ON DEMAND! We will announce new shows here on the Lifeway Women blog or you can subscribe to the YouTube channel by clicking here!
In this month’s featured episode, Priscilla Shirer chats with Angie Smith, Denise Mattison, and David Walley.
We have all experienced grief, are currently in the midst of it, or it is likely ahead of us. We all deal with our grief differently – join us as we hear from two ladies who have experienced deep loss and also hear from a Christian psychologist about how we can grieve and not lose faith.
When Denise’s ex-husband broke into her home with a gun, her newly-wed husband lured him outside to protect his new wife, his two children and her three children. Corey Mattison was already his family's hero, but that day he saved their lives by laying down his own, the ultimate illustration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Join us as we hear from Denise about her heroic husband Corey and how Christ has comforted her these past few months.
In Part 2, Denise will be joined by Angie Smith, a writer and speaker who carried her precious daughter full-term, only to have her here on Earth for a few hours. Angie continues to minister to women all over the world who have experienced the pain of losing a child. We will also have David Walley, a pastor and psychologist who will help us talk through the process of grief and loss and the hope we have in the Gospel of Christ.
Wow… girls, you have blessed me so much! Thank you for sharing your stories, and allowing the grief to show, but also the love and hope in Jesus which shines so brightly through your testimonies! Four years ago, I woke up with my husband and had no idea it was the last time I would have that privilege… he was gone due to a pulmonary embolism later that evening. But God… he showed up in our lives, grabbed me by the hand (just like the promise from Isaiah 41:10 &13) and he hasn’t let go, even when my grip is weak. Bless you sisters, for your courage in sharing your stories! Denise, I am copying your “nevertheless” prayer… because no matter how bad things seem, nevertheless, He is my God and He is good. Nevertheless, He is faithful, He is trustworthy, and He keeps his word!
I look forward to meeting Corey and Audrey in Heaven some day.
Thank you for taking on this hard topic – grief. Thank you ladies for telling your stories and sharing your heart with us. It is good to know that it is better to just say nothing – have empathy and compassion. Just be there and don ‘t try to fix it. Love like Jesus.
