Welcome to Session 1 of The Quest online Bible study by Beth Moore! We’re excited to start this journey of pursuing intimacy with God with you. Over the next six weeks, we’ll explore questions and responses from God’s Word, learn to read and respond to Scripture, and spend time growing in intimacy with God through prayer. We can’t wait for all that these next few weeks have in store for us!
Purchase or rent the videos here to fully experience this Online Bible Study by Beth Moore.
Please read the following instructions carefully; we’ve tried to anticipate your questions!
Here’s how this will work:
- Each week, we’ll provide some questions to review and reflect on the previous week’s personal study. For this first week, we’ll simply ask some questions for you to get to know your fellow Bible study participants! Feel free to discuss those questions in a group, or you can answer them in the comments section of this post.
- Then, you’ll watch the video with Beth. The first and last videos are approximately an hour long. The rest of the videos are about 15-20 minutes long.
- Once you watch the video each week, we have questions for you to answer in your group or in the comments section of the post about the video content. We hope these interactions will be both challenging and encouraging!
- After the video, we will let you know the personal study assignment to do for the next week in your The Quest study journal. That’s it!
- As a reminder, this online study is six weeks long and is available to those studying together or going solo.
- If you have teens that would like to participate in the study with you, they can purchase a teen study journal here and watch the videos posted here. Be sure to follow @LifewayGirls on Instagram to be a part of the conversation with other teens!
- If you have elementary-age children, we offer activity books that walk through The Quest‘s content. You can click here to view the Younger Kids Activity Book (Grades 1-3) and here to view the Older Kids Activity Book (Grades 4-6). These can be a great way to discuss the content of The Quest together as a family!
A note about the Bible study videos: We are giving you the complete video content for the The Quest online Bible study! We will leave all the videos up until September 30, 2018, allowing some breathing room for those who join in late or miss a couple of weeks. After that you can rent or purchase the video sessions here.

- What does this study look like for you (are you doing it by yourself, with a group from church, with a friend on the other side of the world, etc.)?
- What does the phrase “intimacy with God” mean to you? Would you say you have an intimate relationship with God? Why or why not? What does an intimate relationship with God look like?
- Is there one thought or sentence that stuck out to you in this week’s video? What stood out and why?
Before next week, complete Week 1 (pages 12-43) in your study journal. We’ll see you next time!
Hello! My name is Gina and I’m from the whoppin’ metropolis of Umatilla Florida. Doing the study on my own. Intimacy with God is that beautiful relationship between you and Him… Those sweet moments when He speaks to you… When He disciplines you… When He simply holds you because you feel broken or hurt… It’s just like a fingerprint… It’s for you alone. You’ll never find it with a relationship with a person… Only Him. I have felt out of touch with Him for about 6 months… Not a place I want to stay. I’m very excited for this study. I believe He’ll show me what the past several months have been about and I’m looking forward to this season ending and a new beginning. My favorite part was the quote “Anxiety is our agitated souls scrambling for control.” I’m a control freak… Working very hard on not being… But fighting Him tooth and nail on giving up control. He’s so patient with me…I am so undeserving of His grace, mercy and patience. Writing out the five questions to keep them close.
I’m Laurie Ann from Maryland and I’m doing this bible study alone. Looking forward to getting closer to the Lord.
I’m Melinda from Wisconsin. I’m doing the study alone, but am going to ask my Soul Sisters (we meet on Mondays) if they’d like to join me. Oh how I desire to have the passion, trust and intimacy with Jesus that Beth talks about! May it be so! (Oops – lots of exclamation points…..loved the visual of the exclamation points and question marks)
I am Suzanne in Santa Cruz. I’m doing this study solo as well. I am not near a Lifeway store so will do the study entirely online and in my book.
I have desired a more personal, intimate relationship with God and am looking forward to feeling free enough to ask questions of Him. I especially liked that a trip may be similar, however, it is no quest without questions. I want to be able to ask those questions!
Hello! My name is Karen from Camdenton Mo. I am doing this study solo. I am wanting a deeper relationship with my Father. I am needing to learn how to Ask, Seek, and Knock.
Oh my goodness! I have no words! I just finished the video and canniot believe how wonderful this is going to be on this quest. He has already revealed so much through Beth, I cannot wait to dive in. Wish I had the ability to do this for the rest of the day but alas, must get going on appointments and the busy stuff of today. I praise God on what we are going to experuence through this study collectively and personally. I love that we are “question marked”.
Hi, I am Jessica and am studying from home in Billings, MT. I often think of God as my “BFF” and so much more, everything. I know my Lord is with me always….even as I meander off and on the path. ;My walk knows he is with me although I sometimes stray back to the world. I look for my quest to keep me closer to Him while I journey through this world. I love the thought of “Life of faith is a journey” It reminds me how to approach the world, not as a battle but an approach to daily living/loving. So thankful for all the ladies in my life to help me along His way.
Hi! My name is Sterling, I live in Ohio, and I am 16 years old. I’m doing this Bible study with my Mom and my little sister. For me intimacy with God is growing stronger in my faith and understanding of Him and His word, and spending time with Him daily. Recently I have been in several situations where I felt like I should bring up the subject of faith with some of my friends, but I felt very unprepared. I am looking forward to growing closer to God in my personal relationship with Him, so I can more easily share my faith with others in need of Him.
We’re so excited to have you joining us, Sterling! 🙂
Oh my! Sterling, thos touched my heart. That you are here with your Mom and little sister. How awesome. I am praying for you to find the Lord just where you are and that He reveals to your heart exactly the kind of intimacy that keeps you following His word for all of your days. Great job Mom! Leading your Babes by example!
I’m doing this study on my own. I’m praying I’ll come to know Him through this study. Not having that is maddening…
We are so glad you’re here, Ruth. We’ll be praying you come to know God more fully through this study!
My name is Sherry Barker. I am in Plover, Wi. I am so grateful and thankful for this study and even more so for the perfect timing of it in my life! My life’s journey is definitely taken an outward swing and twist of the unknown! When I saw the advertisement teaching of this on TBN I knew that I knew it was for “for such a time as this”. I’m in it for the long haul and duration and I believe God to enlighten and bring nothing less than His best out from it! Hanging on for the wild ride 🙂 Thank you Beth and Lifeway for making this available to whosoever will.
